What is WHMCS?
The WHMCS software suite is an all-in-one client management, billing & support interface for web hosting businesses. By using this tool hosting providers can save countless hours by automating repetitive tasks, in turn allowing you to focus on growing your business.
It provides an easy-to-access management interface that provides and manages: customer signup, service/server provisioning, management and support. WHMCS is perfect for resellers, agencies, and developers looking to streamline or expand their web dependent businesses.
Where did WHMCS come from?
Sometime around 2003 Matt Pugh, a web hoster, set out to simplify and automate essentially anything you can that’s required for web hosting companies. WHMCS stands for Web Host Manager Complete Solution, a name they sought to earn with features and functionality. While initially created as an independent project from cPanel+WHM in 2012 the companies joined in a partnership.
Since it’s inception the interface and features have evolved and matured, one constant is that they still strive to be a complete solution. By partnering with cPanel, they’ve even been able to reinforce this position. Through their parnership they’ve been able to provide more integration with cPanel. This is a huge benefit as they share largely the same population of users.
